September 17–18, 2019
Intersection is the worldwide leading event for Enterprise changemaking by Design, or Enterprise Design. Our sixth edition will be held at the Academy of Sciences in Lisbon.
This year’s theme is Designing Enterprises for Better Futures. Design as a field is about making people’s lives better, yet we struggle to deliver meaningful impact. Instead of tackling the big issues of our societies and economies, we limit ourselves to designing products or services — in isolation, and without considering the enterprise change required to deliver value at scale.
We need to develop tools and approaches that shift design practice to the enterprise level: designing better startups, corporates, public institutions and organisations across sectors and industries, enabling them to together make a leap towards better futures.
During two days, we will exchange on approaches, tools and cases of holistic and systemic design practice, applied to the enterprise itself as our material to design with. Using the Enterprise Design Framework as a guiding tool, we will make sense of a variety of enterprise challenges in our talks and master classes, and share approaches and solutions directly applicable in practice. Join us as participant, contributor or sponsor!
INTERSECTION Conference is brought to you by Enterprise Design Associates and friends.
Boost your own and your team’s strategic design skills to use design for enterprise-scale innovation and transformation. We invite speakers who are at the forefront of the industry, leading inhouse or consultancy side design teams, and running ambitious initiatives to make enterprise change happen.
Experienced practitioners will explain how to bring cross-disciplinary creative and conceptual techniques into real-life projects and programs. Tools and techniques taught in our master classes integrate topics of customer experience, product development, business transformation, and enterprise capability building.
It does not matter what your professional background might be. We are a diverse community of Enterprise and Business Architects, Service, Product and Experience Designers, Systems and Design Thinkers, Transformation and Change Strategists. Join a worldwide network of Enterprise Design practitioners, blending our perspectives and sharing insights.
We are looking for your story related to our theme Designing Enterprises for Better Futures: did you change how things are being done in and around your enterprise, making it work better and deliver more value to customers? Did you untangle your teams from silos, old management styles, and rigid procedures? Did your design work inform strategic foresight, instead of just implementing a given direction? Did you map out a target state for a better future transforming the enterprise to get there, by introducing new business models, engaging new partners, or opening new markets? Did you come up with new design tools and techniques, and new ways to measure the value design delivered to your change portfolio?
We are looking for 45 minute presentations of your case study by one or two speakers, expecting you to cover the following elements:
Please submit an abstract of less than 400 words describing your project and the points mentioned above. All accepted presenters will be able to attend the conference free of charge. Our deadline for submissions is April 30.
